Berrien County Court Calendars Explained
Berrien County Superior Court is part of the Alapaha Judicial Circuit. The circuit's calendar page separates monthly, annual, weekly-hearing, calendar-call, and civil-trial lists. These are dated publications, not a searchable docket database.
Schedules cover criminal, civil, child-support, traffic, plea, motion, calendar-call, and trial work. The case record and newest signed notice still control for one case.
The annual and monthly sheets span the whole Alapaha Circuit, so locate the Berrien label before relying on a line. Some entries mark filing deadlines rather than appearances. Save the publication date with any note taken from a PDF, then check again near the hearing. That habit prevents an old download from being mistaken for the live Berrien County court calendar.
Jurisdiction also shapes the search. Superior Court hears felonies, divorce, land-title, equity, and other general civil or criminal matters. Magistrate Court handles warrants, first appearances, dispossessory cases, county ordinances, and civil claims through $15,000. Probate Court handles estates, guardianships, and conservatorships and expressly does not handle traffic. County traffic files sit with the Superior clerk, while city citations normally stay with the municipal court. A calendar from the wrong court can look plausible but still have no authority over the case.
Five Berrien Calendar Channels
The monthly calendar, annual schedule, and weekly hearings serve different time frames. Separate Berrien PDFs cover civil hearings, calendar call, and civil trials.
The official interface below helps readers choose a current source.

Always compare its date with the docket and latest notice.
Finding Your Court Date
Start with the court named on the notice. Superior settings may appear in circuit lists and PeachCourt. Magistrate, Probate, and municipal schedules remain separate.
- Open the newest circuit calendar for the setting type.
- For Superior Court, follow Georgia E-Access to PeachCourt and inspect events if account access permits.
- Compare the newest hearing notice and any reset.
- Call Superior at (229) 686-2180 or its clerk at (229) 686-5506; Magistrate at (229) 686-7019; or Probate at (229) 686-5213.
- Visit the responsible counter at 201 N. Davis Street and ask about a printed list when online access fails.
- Confirm a near-term setting with the court or counsel.
Bring the exact case number, party name, court, and filing year to a call or counter visit. Those facts help staff distinguish a Superior case from a Magistrate claim or city citation. If counsel represents a party, counsel should be part of the confirmation chain. A search result or third-party reminder is not an official setting. For urgent dates, use the newest PDF, then the case docket, then direct court confirmation.
Berrien Calendar Terms
Labels identify session purpose, not outcome.
- Calendar call

- Civil CC
- Civil calendar call.
- GJ
- Grand jury work.
- Reset
- A moved date whose old entry may remain.
Other labels include criminal motions, pleas, pretrial hearings, and jury trials. They are not proven PeachCourt codes.
Berrien Hearing Types Compared
A first appearance is an early Magistrate proceeding about rights, custody, and bond. It is not an arraignment. A pretrial conference narrows issues, while a motion hearing addresses a specific request. A bench trial is heard by a judge; a jury trial is decided by jurors. Sentencing follows a conviction, and a status or review hearing checks progress or compliance. Reading the label correctly prevents a Berrien County court calendar entry from being mistaken for a final outcome.
How to Read a Court Setting
A Berrien civil sheet can show case number, style, hearing type, allotted length, lawyers, judge, and reporter. Masked observed formats included 26-C-### and 26-D-###, but no complete local codebook was found.
| Date | Scheduled date, subject to a later order. |
|---|---|
| Time | Session time, hearing time, or allotted duration. |
| Courtroom | The location stated in the notice. |
| Judge | The officer on the current calendar. |
| Setting Type | Call, arraignment, motion, plea, hearing, or trial. |
Time needs care. A sheet may give a session start, a separate estimated hearing length, and total calendar time. Do not treat an allotted length as an arrival time. “Half day” or “all day” describes reserved court time, not a promised start. An undefined “IBIC” column appeared on the inspected civil sheet; ask the circuit office rather than guessing at its meaning.
Berrien Tracking-Only Calendar Call
A July 2026 Berrien civil call was tracking-only. Attorneys filed written announcements through PeachCourt, while self-represented parties could use stated fax or mail channels. The notice asked for the case number, calendar page, represented side, readiness, reason, and mediation status.
That rule belongs to the dated sheet. Missing announcements could bring dismissal or sanctions. Uniform Superior Court Rules 8.1 and 8.5 leave placement and continuances to the court, so party agreement alone does not move a date.
Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations
A continuance moves a date; it does not dismiss the matter. Old settings may remain in the chronological docket. Favor the newest valid notice or order.
If a date vanishes, call the circuit administrator at (229) 686-6177 or the responsible clerk. A cached snippet is not a current calendar.
A motion to continue records a request. An order granting it shows court action. A later notice supplies the replacement date. Read all three instead of stopping at the first mention of a continuance. If no replacement appears, ask whether the court will issue a notice or place the matter on another list. A calendar call, motion hearing, plea day, and trial are different events, so a new setting type may be the next stage rather than a duplicate date.
Weather Can Change Berrien Dates
The emergency-order page records closures. A January 2025 order closed Berrien Superior and Juvenile Courts and tolled affected deadlines.
Georgia court technology resources describe remote-hearing tools.

No source establishes a standing Berrien video link. Use instructions issued for the case.
After a Berrien Emergency Order
Emergency tolling can protect a deadline affected by a declared event, but its exact scope comes from the order. Check the named courts, effective time, reopening plan, and covered period. A storm announcement from another county in the circuit may not answer what happened in Berrien. After normal operations resume, verify whether the court issued a replacement calendar or case-specific notice. Remote access also depends on the proceeding. Public-access rules do not authorize entry through an old meeting address, and a remote link does not excuse compliance with the time and instructions in the notice.
If You Miss a Court Setting
Contact the court and counsel at once. Give the case number, missed date, and setting type. Ask about any order, process, bond action, dismissal, or new date.
Missed a Setting? A missed criminal date can trigger failure-to-appear action, a warrant, or bond consequences.
Call the responsible Berrien County clerk and request the newest docket information.
Consult a licensed attorney before appearing without instructions.
For Superior Court, cross-check the Berrien County case lookup. Other courts require their own offices.
Do not assume that paying a citation, leaving a message, or filing a late paper cures the missed appearance. Ask what the docket shows and which court action is needed. Civil effects can include dismissal, default, or another order. Criminal consequences may involve bond or process. Keep the date, time, and substance of each court contact, then verify any instruction against a new notice or entry.
County and municipal traffic require special care. The Superior clerk keeps the county traffic docket, while a city citation may remain with its municipal clerk. Read the issuing agency and court name before calling. Probate is not a traffic court. If a ticket cannot be found online, ask whether it has been entered and whether appearance is mandatory. A payment screen is not the full setting history.
When staff confirms a new date by phone, ask whether a written notice will follow and where it will be sent. Update the court with any address change through the proper filing process. Keep the citation or notice available during the call. Clear identifiers reduce the risk of receiving information about a similarly named matter.
