Berrien Civil Docket Search

Start any Berrien County civil docket search with the court that holds the file. Superior Court keeps the divorce, land-title, equity, and general civil cases, while Magistrate Court runs its own small-claim and dispossessory dockets. For Superior Court case information, PeachCourt is the official online route. When a Berrien County civil docket is not there, the responsible clerk can still check older files, confirm upcoming hearings, and explain how to get plain or certified copies.

Berrien Magistrate's $15,000 Line

Civil claims of $15,000 or less belong to Berrien County Magistrate Court. They do not belong to Superior Court. Its docket covers contract disputes, dispossessory cases, personal injury or property claims, foreclosures, and suits on account within that limit. The court posts no official public search portal for these files. Ask the clerk directly.

Quick answer: For a small claim or dispossessory file, call Magistrate Court at (229) 686-7019 or visit Suite 250 at 201 N. Davis Street. A PeachCourt search alone is not complete.

An appealed Magistrate judgment can generate later Superior Court activity under a different number. When a Berrien County docket entry hints at an appeal or transfer, check both courts.

Inside a Berrien County Civil Docket

Think of a Berrien County civil docket as an index to case activity. What follows describes the standard civil workflow. No field is promised to appear online.

Keep that caveat in mind as you read.

Party blockPlaintiff or petitioner, defendant or respondent, and other displayed roles.
ServiceIssuance of summons or citation and any filed return or service entry.

Published circuit calendars show Berrien civil sheets using masked formats like 26-C-### for general civil matters and 26-D-### for divorce or domestic cases. These are calendar examples, not a complete local case-number manual.

PeachCourt Has Two Civil Roles

Georgia's official e-filing matrix lists PeachCourt as mandatory for Berrien County Superior Court civil e-filing. The same provider also serves as the state-routed case-access service. Filing a pleading and reading public case information are different tasks. One vendor can support both without merging them.

The official e-filing matrix is what matters here. It reveals nothing about any private civil case.

Civil Case Types on the Docket

Subject and amount split Berrien County civil jurisdiction. Superior Court hears divorce, title to land, equity, and general civil actions. Magistrate Court handles the smaller civil matters within its stated limit. Estates, guardianships, conservatorships, and related proceedings sit in Probate Court's own file system.

  • Superior Court divorce and domestic-relations matters.
  • Superior Court land-title, equity, and general civil actions.
  • Magistrate claims at or below $15,000, including contract and suits on account.
  • Magistrate dispossessory, personal injury or property, and foreclosure matters within jurisdiction.
  • Probate estates, guardianships, and conservatorships, subject to their own access rules.

A case can be public in broad outline. Personal identifiers, protected pages, or sealed material may still be unavailable.

Berrien Service Is Not a Judgment

A service line on the Berrien County civil docket shows one thing: a summons or other process went out or came back. That is all it shows. Winning or losing is decided later. So move ahead through the entries until you reach the actual ruling. The same caution applies to motions. A motion is a request rather than an order. Even an event line noting that an order was entered will not give you the signed order's full terms.

Default judgment
A judgment potentially entered when a required response was not made.
Voluntary dismissal
A claimant's dismissal under the procedure that applies to the case.
Judgment
A final or separately appealable determination of rights or liability.
Satisfaction
A later filing that may reflect fulfillment of a judgment, if recorded.

For the real result, request the signed judgment or order from the clerk that holds the file.

Berrien Civil Docket Settings and Hearings

The Alapaha Judicial Circuit calendar page sorts its postings into Monthly, Annual, Weekly Hearings, Calendar Call, and Civil Trials. These are schedules, not search databases. A Berrien civil hearing sheet may list the county, a masked case number and style, and the hearing type with its allotted length. It can also list attorneys or self-represented status, judge, reporter, and total time.

A July 2026 Berrien calendar call ran tracking-only, with no personal call. Attorneys submitted written announcements through PeachCourt; self-represented parties used the stated mail or fax options. Uniform Superior Court Rule 8.1 lets the court decide placement on the Ready, Pre-Trial, or Trial lists. Under Rule 8.5, party agreement alone will not continue a case.

The circuit assigns an official weekly-hearings page to Berrien County. That page shows how this calendar channel works.

Use the official page to confirm the source and date. Do not preserve or republish private party details from it.

For a near-term Berrien County setting, check the current PDF first. Then check the newest docket event or notice. After that, call the Court Administrator at (229) 686-6177 or the clerk at (229) 686-5506. A prior setting still counts as history after a reset. But it no longer controls.

Petition to Berrien Civil Judgment

A typical Berrien County civil sequence is: Complaint or petition → Summons and service → Answer → Motions and notices → Hearing or calendar call → Trial or dispositive ruling → Judgment → Post-judgment activity or appeal. Actual cases can omit, repeat, or reorder steps under the governing procedure.

Discovery activity may show up only as filed notices or motions. It will not show every exchange between parties. A settlement can close a case through a dismissal or an order. If a Berrien County docket lists a judgment and the wording matters, inspect or order the underlying signed document. The short event label will not carry the full terms.

Note: An agreed continuance is not final until the Berrien County court acts. The current setting must also change by proper notice or order.

Berrien Civil Docket Access Rules

Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 starts from public inspection of court records, unless law or the rule's limitation procedure applies. That principle does not guarantee free online images. The Berrien County clerk may allow inspection yet charge for copies or certification, and protected or sealed material may stay unavailable.

Georgia access rules:

Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 governs public access and court-ordered limits; Rules 21.1 through 21.5 require defined scope, duration, and reasons.

O.C.G.A. § 9-11-7.1 and Rule 21.6 address protected personal identifiers and sealed protected-identifier pages.

Georgia Open Records Act guidance states the broader access policy, but judicial case files remain governed by court law, rules, and the custodian.

Superior civil files live with the Clerk of Superior Court. That office sits in Room 230, 201 N. Davis Street, Nashville, Georgia 31639. The counter is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can call (229) 686-5506, fax (229) 543-1032, or email shawna.hughes@gsccca.org. You can also stop by or mail a request. Before mailing anything, nail down the document title, the cost, and how you can pay. Ask whether a return envelope is required, and about certification.

Magistrate files sit in Suite 250 at the same address, or call (229) 686-7019. Probate matters are handled in Room 175, reachable at (229) 686-5213. Public hours there run 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. A blanket county records request is no substitute for calling the clerk who actually keeps the court docket you need.

Certified Berrien Civil Judgments

Berrien County uses GSCCCA eCertification for certified copies of Superior Court Civil and Child Support documents, among other categories. The process runs from registration through a new request. Then you pick Berrien and the document type, followed by clerk review and payment authorization. The clerk then emails a secured certified PDF. Each issued document carries a code the recipient can use to authenticate it.

Some details stay behind the login. Exact identification fields, document fees, and turnaround times are all gated. The eCertification terms do disclose a 3.5% card-processing surcharge, and that rate may change. Keep in mind that a portal printout is not automatically certified. Fees listed for real estate records or Probate marriage copies tell you nothing about the price of a Superior civil judgment. Confirm your total with Room 230 before ordering.

What you need determines what to ask for. For event history alone, the Berrien County civil docket may be enough. To show the exact ruling, request the signed order. For official authentication, ask the clerk for a certified version.
